Spigelian Hernia
Spigelian hernia are rare. They are difficult to diagnose as the hernia only passes through some of the abdominal wall muscles and does not bulge out.

They are usually not visible but can be felt if the diagnosis is considered.
​
They cause discomfort and are affected by position.
​
They may only contain pre peritoneal fat as in the hernia in the photo.
​
They can be repaired by both open surgery or keyhole laparoscopic surgery. They do not need mesh as the defect is small.
