Femoral hernia are for a change more common in women.
They often don't cause any symptoms unless something gets stuck inside and because of this often present urgently with groin pain.
They are difficult to diagnose as they can not be seen and because of this are occasioanally missed.
Femoral hernia should be fixed because of this risk.
Open surgery is usually needed if the hernia is acute and incarcerated.
